On October 17th, Fayette County celebrated an exciting new chapter in community recreation with the ribbon-cutting ceremony at Kiwanis Park for the three new pickleball courts. This highly anticipated event marked the unveiling of new courts aimed at enhancing the outdoor experience for local residents and visitors alike.
The ceremony was attended by a lively crowd of community members, local leaders, and volunteers, all eager to witness the official opening. These improvements promise to add to the Kiwanis Park experience, making it a more complete destination for outdoor activities, including sports, family gatherings, and peaceful nature walks.
The "ribbon" was made of a string of pickleballs that bounced excitedly to announce the opening of the courts as the ribbon was cut!
After the ribbon was cut, the commissioners got in on the fun themselves, becoming the first to serve the ball over the newly installed volleyball net. This playful moment captured the spirit of the event—celebrating community, wellness, and the shared joy of recreation. The friendly competition and laughter that followed set the tone for a new season of activities and gatherings at the park.
As Fayette County continues to grow, so does its dedication to providing high-quality recreational spaces for its residents. Kiwanis Park’s Pickleball court ribbon-cutting was more than just an event—it was a reminder of the power of community investment and the importance of outdoor spaces where people can come together.
Be sure to visit Kiwanis Park and enjoy all it has to offer. Whether you're serving up a game of volleyball, picnicking with family, or simply taking a stroll through the scenic trails, there's something for everyone at this beautifully renewed space!
Headley Construction Project Manager Andrea Reese, alongside Superintendent Kyle Ibsen, collaborated closely with Anita from Fayette County Parks and Rec and Matt from Fayette County to bring this vision to life.
